Background
Psychedelic trance had its beginnings in the early 90ies. At that time the music style was called Goa because it originated in the Indian state of Goa where lots of old hippies had settled and then merged with European techno fans who came for vacations. They made allnight parties where techno grooves fused with psychedelic sequencers, synth melodies and FX, and Indian elements were added as a special spice. This music got a special stronghold in Israel until today. The most prominent Israeli group in the 90ies was Astral Projection.
In the last ten years Goa changed into psyTrance. The style got harder, the production techniques got more refined but many think that much of the initial psychedelic spirit got lost. Today there’s a lot of psyTrance that has a perfect sound but lacks soul – at least that’s what I think and many others, too. So there’s an emergence of retro Goa music. On the other hand there’s Dark Psy that completely moved away from the friendly and happy “Goa towards exploring the darker side of the human psyche, with frightening sounds and uneasy feelings. Personally I can’t really imagine how anyone in a psychedelic state can be attracted to this kind of music although soundwise some aspects are interesting.
Eternal Bliss tries to merge the sound quality and the impact of contemporary psyTrance with the original uplifting psychedelic feeling. Additionally there’s the live guitar that adds a special human, sometimes “rocking” touch and a contrast to the perfection of machine music.
